As one of your own British compatriots put it:
"I have posted my strong views about the ’special relationship’ before, and still stand by them.
Our special relationship is with the American people not the few turds who sometimes turn up in their political life.
A great many Americans are of British stock, and are proud of that. This does affect the way they think about us.
I remember, with no small emotion, my brother as a Royal Marine Coxswain on a landing craft on the Normandy beaches.
He took many US troops onto the beach, and recalled how his craft had to push through a mass of dead American soldiers floating in the sea, in order to reach the landing point.
My older brother served in the desert and then went on to Scicily, Italy and the South of France. He too spoke of the friendliness and generosity of our American allies.
I remember the kindness and generosity of the Americans in the UK, when we had to manage on meagre rations and no real luxuries. And before you ask, no I did not have a young sister or young mother to attract such generosity. They were genuine friends.
These were simply decent young people who felt distressed at our lack of the things they considered as basics.
Those are the memories that sustain my special relationship.
Certainly I have met the odd badass on my travels, but we have our share of those too.
As far as our Governments go, I believe we should be standing up for ourselves if we consider that we are being asked to do something that is not in the best interests of the UK.
We should be prepared to continue sharing intelligence and aiding with our bases, but as an equal, not a minor partner.
We currently have a situation with a President who seems to have a beef about the British. Some say that it reaches back to his grandfather in Kenya. I don’t know the truth of that, but I would remind people that the British troops in Kenya at that time were fighting an evil secret society called the Mau Mau.
This Mau Mau, after performing thier “magic” oath taking, would visit outlying farms and kill the whole family of white people and their livestock. Women and children received no mercy from this scum.
If the Brits killing off the Mau Mau is the root of Obama’s beef, then he is diminished in the eyes of other decent people.
Making ill-considered remarks about Americans in general is not helpful. We have enough enemies in the world, and we do need to maintain that friendship with America.
Presidents and politicians come and go. We will no doubt have future ones who are more kindly disposed to us, but we have to stand on our own feet as allies, and be the true friend who sometimes has to tell them when something just isn’t right.
That really is a special relationship.

Touching story I picked up from stalking the Telegraph and different blogs. Thought I'd share to make other people happy. :3

And it's completely right in many ways; presidents and politicians do come and go. But the Special relationship was always beyond politics for me. I have no doubt that the article will be forgotten in a few days, and they'll be one replacing it with a much more positive outlook. Tsun tsun dere dere? Haha.

It made me feel better too. ^^
Exactly, and people don't seem to realize that the special relationship revolves around a lot more than just politics. The people themselves, are what make this 'special relationship' real. =]
Haha, yes~ very tsun tsun dere dere, but that's Alfred and Arthur for you~ x3
