Hello everyone! Sweethearts Week is now officially over. I'll be working on calculating the winners, BUT I need you to tell me if I missed giving you any Valentines. If you posted, and I did not reply with Valentines, please reply to this ASAP with a link to the post so I can remedy this.

We averaged a little over fifty posts a day for this week's event, which is fantastic. You all put out so many amazing fanworks! In fact, I'd highly encourage our members to look through the 2012 Sweethearts tag, just in case some of these wonderful fanworks managed to pass you by. :D

Also, I plainly... forgot to do the post for the raffle, so look out for that in a bit.

Second order of business- As of right now, we do NOT have enough calendar orders to warrant a reprint. I'll go ahead and extend it until FEBRUARY 20TH since Sweethearts Week did fall in the middle of the due date. If you'd like to order a reprint copy of our 2012 USxUK Calendar, please go HERE! I will not be extending past that point.

Thanks. :)

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a good weekend (and maybe getting ready for Sweethearts Week XD). Just a few notes-

-As of now, the 2011 USxUK Secret Santa archive is COMPLETE. If you have not seen your gift yet, please check out the post and it should be linked there. Even if you dropped, you still may have a gift, so please do check. A member noticed that about 1/3 of the gifts don't yet have replies from their recipient, and we'd really like to remedy that. Please let your Santa know that you appreciate their hard work. IF YOU COMPLETED A GIFT AND THERE IS NOT A GIFT IN THERE FOR YOU, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IMMEDIATELY.

CHECK OUT THE ARCHIVE HERE!

-I have had a couple of people ask me about the 2012 Short Story Collection that I mentioned a few months ago. It was supposed to start in January and end at the beginning of May, but because of other projects running a bit late, I'm going to start it up in late February or March and end it in June. Look out for that. :)

-Lastly, remember that we ARE taking preorders for a possible reprint of the calendar. I need to have at least forty copies sold to do a reprint, which I do not have yet. I promise you that the calendar is gorgeous and totally worth it, so do consider ordering one HERE.

Thanks a lot for reading!

Hello everyone!

When we got the calendars in the mail, we had several extra and we were able to send those to the lucky members who claimed them first. Unfortunately, a lot of people emailed me after I'd sold out and were unable to get a calendar. Added to that, I've received several emails and PMs asking whether we could do a reprint. The answer is hopefully yes. If you are unfamiliar with our calendar project, please check out our original preorder post here. All the details- size, artists, page count, etc. are there.

Why hopefully?:
In order to break even and not lose money on a reprint, I'd need to sell at least forty calendars. If I don't have enough interest, I can't do it.

Okay, well I really want one!:
PLEASE EMAIL AND SEND THE FOLLOWING FORM TO: usxukcalendar@gmail.com

Name:
Full address:
Quantity of calendars you wish to order:
Paypal username:

With the subject line- USxUK Calendar Order + YOUR NAME. You can put your livejournal name, your real name, whatever here.

For example, my subject line would be-

USxUK Calendar Order- Haro

What happens then?:
I'll save your email, and I'll reply to your email with your total+shipping ASAP, as well as the paypal address you need to send payment to if we manage to get enough interest. You will then send payment. In addition to paypal, I also accept Western Union, money order, check, or concealed cash (at your own risk).

When would we get the calendars?:
I can't promise a date, but I think I can safely say before mid-March would be the shipping date. That would give my print company more than a month, and they've never been that late.

Is the price still the same?:
Yep! Still 14.00 USD.

And shipping?:
It's 3.00 USD in the US, 8.25 in the EU, 4.00 in Canada, and generally either 8.00 or 8.25 anywhere else in the world. This covers the shipping price and the price of the envelopes I have to purchase.

When do I need to email you by?:
Email me ASAP. I'm going to set FEBRUARY 20TH as the absolute last day you can send in an order. After that, if we have enough interest, I'll print them. If not, I'll let you know. This will be your last chance to get one of these calendars, so make sure to pop me an email if you really want one.

I have another question.:
Feel free to ask in response!

Thanks a lot. ♥
-[livejournal.com profile] haro
All of the calendars from the preorder have been shipped out. If you ordered one of the extra calendars and paid me before Thursday, yours has also been shipped out. If you paid me after that, it will be shipped out tomorrow or whenever you do pay. Those of you that live in the U.S., many of you have received your calendars already. If you haven't, they SHOULD arrive tomorrow or Saturday.

This calendar would not have been remotely possible without the twenty-five amazing artists that contributed to it as well as the talented crew who created the calendar layout. I can't thank them all enough for participating in this project. All of their works turned out so beautifully. ♥

As such, we decided to put up an...

ARTIST SQUEE POST!

Once you have your calendar, feel free to come to this post and give the artists the mad props they deserve. You are welcome and encouraged to comment on as many pieces of art and artists as possible, or you can also just leave a few general comments. To the artists who participated in the calendar; you are also welcome to comment here. I hope to see lots of love for our brilliant artists!

-[livejournal.com profile] haro
Awesome news, everyone!

If you missed out on ordering a calendar, we have great news for you! We have a limited number of calendars still available for purchase.

You can now order one of our LEFTOVER calendars. We actually did end up in the red this year and lost some money, but the printing company sent us A LOT of extra copies (for some reason), so hopefully this can make up for that. Plus, all of you who wanted to preorder and missed your chance? Now you can get one. If you pay now, I can even ship them out tomorrow. I'll edit this post when we are out of calendars. Until I do so, we have calendars left and you are free to order one (or more than one!).

These calendars are FOURTEEN DOLLARS USD (plus shipping).

If you want any of these calendars-

PLEASE EMAIL AND SEND THE FOLLOWING FORM TO: usxukcalendar@gmail.com

Name:
Full address:
Quantity of calendars you wish to order:
Paypal username:

With the subject line- USxUK Calendar Order + YOUR NAME. You can put your livejournal name, your real name, whatever here.

For example, my subject line would be-

USxUK Calendar Order- Haro

We will get back to you with your total+shipping ASAP, as well as the paypal address you need to send payment to. :)

THE FOLLOWING MEMBERS HAVE CONTACTED ME ALREADY REGARDING EXTRA CALENDARS:
[livejournal.com profile] bodie_chan
[livejournal.com profile] janny01key

I will hold your calendars for one week. After which, if you have not emailed me your form, they will no longer be held (meaning, if I start running out, I'll go ahead and sell them).

To those who ordered calendars in the preorders. The very last batch of calendars is going out tomorrow afternoon. I'm VERY sorry for the delay. A lot of problems cropped up that prevented me from getting everything shipped out, and I apologize for that. Please look out for the ARTIST'S APPRECIATION POST. I will make that this Friday.

ALSO- If you receive your calendar in the mail, and there is some kind of mistake, please email me right away so I can fix it.

Thank you everyone for participating in this amazing project. You all are stars. ♥

-[livejournal.com profile] haro

EDIT: We are already pretty much out of extra calendars. If you would still like one, I can put you on a first come first served waiting list. This waiting list will be used in case one of the people who emailed me does not come through and pay or drops their order. Please email me with your form if you'd like to be on it. As it is first come first served, email me quickly!
Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great holiday season.

Our archive post is not yet up to date, but MOST of the fanworks have been posted. Right now we're just waiting for some pinch hits to be posted. Please look through the 2011 Secret Santa tag and check for your gift if you haven't already. Remember that your Santa worked hard on their gift for you, so please drop them a comment. And if there is no gift for you yet, don't fret. Everyone will receive a gift by the time this is over.

Remember that if you are writing a chapter fic or drawing a fancomic, it must be finished by the thirty-first. Time zone is irrelevant to me, so don't worry about that.

-What if I can't finish my chapter fic in time? You must have a fanwork completed in time. If you absolutely cannot finish your chapter fic in time, then please post something that's complete- whether it's a piece of art or a oneshot using one of your recipient's other prompts.

All pinch hits that have been sent out must be posted by the end of January first. Again, time zone is irrelevant. If I send you a pinch hit after today, the due date will be adjusted accordingly (i.e. I'm not going to send you a pinch hit on the thirty-first and ask you to post it by the first of course).

P.S.- The calendars are here! They look beautiful. I'll be sending most of them out tomorrow and the rest out on Thursday.

-[livejournal.com profile] haro
Hello everyone! Here's an update on the status of the calendars. I apologize that I hadn't posted one before. The calendars have been shipped to me, and they should arrive on the twenty-seventh (as I used UPS three day shipping). I know that this is a little bit later than I had hoped to send them out, but it's still a lot better than the printing company delay last year? XD

Anyway, I will post to the community once I have them, and I will send them out THE NEXT DAY (so this should be the twenty-eighth barring any strange disaster).

A NOTE TO ALL OF YOU: I have had a couple of people contact me and tell me to ship their calendar to a different address than they'd originally given. If you need me to do this, please contact me. It would be most convenient for me if you replied to the original order email. Thanks!

Hey everyone! Here's a reminder that the USxUK calendar preorders close TOMORROW. Preorders must be sent in by Wednesday November thirtieth, so please order as soon as you can. I'm not terribly picky about timezones, so don't worry if you get it in past midnight CST my timezone. I won't be tallying up and everything until later on Thursday.

q) I got my preorder in on time, but my payment got sent a bit late.
a) Not a huge deal. If you send me payment on the first, I'll still accept it. I cannot accept any payment after the first though unless you have made arrangements with me.

q) I sent you payment. Did you get it?
a) Unless you ordered within the last day, I have sent you a reminder email if I have yet to receive payment from you. That being said, please reply and let me know when you do send payment. That makes it much easier. :)

Remember that the calendar would also make a great gift! ♥
Hey everyone! Here's a reminder that the USxUK calendar preorders close in only about half a week. Preorders must be sent in by Wednesday November thirtieth, so please order as soon as you can.

Remember that the calendar would also make a great gift! ♥
Announcing...

The 2011 USxUK Calendar is a twelve month calendar featuring art from twenty-five extremely talented members of the USxUK fandom. Artists were chosen by the members of [livejournal.com profile] usxuk, and all of them have gone above and beyond in creating gorgeous pieces of art.

The calendar features artists from over ten different countries, all contributing beautiful works to celebrate this beloved pairing.

Hello everyone! A month or so ago we mentioned a writer's project that will be running somewhat concurrently with the calendar project. We're still doing this project! ...But we have decided to postpone it for a few months.

This is why:
-It would HEAVILY conflict with the Secret Santa. The calendar really doesn't because art needs to be in by early November, and that's when Secret Santa assignments get sent out. However this project would end up with a due date of December most likely, and that's Secret Santa time.
-The project does also require some artists (spoiler- it's a doujinshi 'novel' project, and we'd like for each story to have one black and white illustration). Many artists are busy with the calendar, and starting in November many will be busy with our Secret Santa.

So this is how it is going to work, tentatively:
Calendar Project-
Early November- Art completed and preorders open.
Secret Santa-
October first- Signups open
Early November- Assignments go out
December 1-25- Posting Period
USxUK 'Short Story Collection' Fanfiction Project-
Early January- Info and signups posted
Early March- Fics due
Early March- Artist signups
Early April- Art due
Early May- Book Release

Sweethearts Week will fall during February, of course, but as it's only one week, we don't think it should interrupt too much. :D

Quick note- The short story collection WILL be available for free online, but we're also investigating possible printed copies of it for those who wish to order and own a hard copy.

I hope that all makes sense. We'll see you in two weeks for the Secret Santa signups!
-[livejournal.com profile] haro
We had about one hundred and fifty of you vote. It took quite some time to calculate the results, but here they are. There were SO MANY amazing artists. I wish that we could have accepted all of you. Please don't be discouraged if you weren't accepted. You're still great, and there will be many more projects for you to participate in in the future. There is such an outstanding amount of talent in this community, and we love it. ♥

And the winners are... )

ALL ACCEPTED ARTISTS: Please watch for an invite to [livejournal.com profile] usxukcalendar. This is just a community we set up so we don't clog this community with reminders and information posts for the artists. Please join this community and add it to your friends list. If you go here and do not see an invite, let me know and I'll get you one ASAP. If you do not have an lj account, please check your email for an email from me. Once you've done that, go to wait for me to make my first post. There you will find the month you have been assigned, and I'd also like if all artists could check in there.

Keep being the awesome community members you all are!

EDIT: One more order of business. I have had a couple of members request that I reveal the name of all auditioning artists. If you do not wish for me to reveal your name, please send me a PM and let me know, and I'll leave you out of the reveal.
We have such an amazingly talented group of artists here. I'm really, really excited for this year's calendar. And now here is your chance to vote!

Voting will close at midnight next Tuesday, which gives you about a week to vote.

You must vote for at least five artists. You may vote for up to fifteen artists (this is encouraged!).

The artists are not 'numbered.' Rather they have a 'name' to refer to each of them. I chose to use U.S. states, but I ran out because we had more than fifty auditions, so I've used English counties for the last few. I did this for a couple of reasons. 1) I'm... a lot better with words than numbers, so when I'm tallying up a poll of this magnitude, it makes it easier for me. 2) I thought it might make it easier for some of you, in regards to not accidentally mixing submissions up.

Your vote should look like this:

Top five:
1- Australia
2- India
3- U.S.A.
4- UK
5- China

Remaining votes:
6- Indonesia
7- Mexico
8- South Africa
9- Japan
10- Brazil
11- Greece
12- Russia
13- Cambodia
14- Canada
15- New Zealand

I used countries for the example, but of course your votes should be state and county names. Your top five votes do NOT need to be in order (as in, your first favorite doesn't need to be the first artist you list. They just need to be somewhere in those first five). They just need to be your top five favorites, unranked. 6-15 also do NOT need to be in order.

Your top five votes will receive TWO points a piece. Your remaining votes will receive ONE point a piece. That's why it's at least important to let me know what your five favorites are.

PLEASE LOOK AT ALL THE SAMPLES. Don't just look at the one I've chosen to display, because there might be something else in the other two samples that really blows you away. ALSO- On a few of the images, imgur (annoyingly) sacrificed a bit of image quality. If you notice any graininess, PLEASE assume it is the fault of imgur and not of the artist.

Artists- For the most part I chose samples based on what art you submitted that features America and England. If there was more than one, I just chose the one I personally thought worked the best. If you're going "I'd really rather you have used another one," please do reply and let me know! I'll switch it out immediately.

Voters- I've posted all the submissions anonymously, but of course I realize that there are many artists here that you are going to recognize (not to mention, a few of them have watermarks on their work. Artists, if you want to give me a watermarkless version, I can switch it out). I trust you all to vote free of bias, based solely on the skill of the artists seen below. Please make sure to make this as fair as possible! Every artist here should have an equal chance. I trust you all to be honest; no sock accounts, no getting your friends to come vote for you, etc. You all are an amazing community, so I don't foresee this as an issue.

Artists... again- You MAY vote. Also, voting for yourself is not prohibited, if you absolutely feel that you deserve it.

If any links are incorrect or not working, please let me know. :)

You CANNOT vote if you are not a member of this community. Comments are SCREENED.

Also- There is some R-RATED CONTENT under the cut. There's nothing that explicit, but you're not going to want to look at this post at work, for example.

Ready to vote? Check out all the amazing artists under the cut... )

Good luck to everyone. :)

Hello everyone! Just a reminder that our artist auditions for the calendar are still going on. Right now we have forty-one auditions. We got about fifty last time, so here's hoping for some more before the auditions close.

One thing- I don't have a livejournal. Can I still audition?
Yes, you can. But you cannot vote. If you wish to vote for the artists when voting opens, you will need to create an account.

READ ABOUT THE CALENDAR AND SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION HERE~!

Auditions close just a little more than a day from now (about 25 hours), at midnight CST. I cannot wait any longer than that, because I'll be going out of town just a little more than twenty-four hours later. I've got to get the voting post up and ready before I leave.

Lastly, if you have any questions, feel free to ask in reply to the audition post (or you can just PM me with them). Thank you and good luck!

Hello everyone! Just a reminder that our artist auditions for the calendar are still going on. Right now we have twenty-four auditions, and considering that we need twenty-five artists for the calendar, that is of course, not enough. XD

READ ABOUT THE CALENDAR AND SUBMIT YOUR AUDITION HERE~!

Auditions close EXACTLY a week from now, at this exact time (midnight CST).

Okay, this is the last mod post of the night. XD For 2011, we put together our first ever USxUK calendar. It was a huge success, and we sold almost 130 copies of it. This year, we're going to do the same thing for 2012!

Last year we started off quite late, the calendar not really kicking into gear until November, but this year that won't be the case. The artists will have more time to complete their work, and preorders will be closed and the calendars ordered by the first of December. The calendar will be 8 1/2x11 inches when closed, and it should run about fourteen dollars (this was the price last year). You can see an image of last year's calendars here to get an idea.

Here is the audition post. Please read it carefully! If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

First and foremost, I had a few people ask me this last year, so I figured I'd get it out of the way:

Why auditions?

If I were just running this calendar myself, yes I could easily go and pick twenty-five of my favorite USxUK artists and ask them if they'd like to participate. But I'm not. This is a community project, and as such we feel it is fairest for the featured artists to be chosen by the members of the community. You all will be in charge of voting on and selecting the featured artists, because it is a calendar for all of you. I hope the audition process won't discourage anyone from participating. *^^*

This is what you'll need to provide:

-Name. Self explanatory.

-Email Address. The comments are screened, so you don't need to space it or anything. Just write it as is. It makes it easier for me to send emails.

-Do you have a website/deviantart/art journal? You may link this here if you wish, but it is not required.

-Please provide three samples of art. At least one sample must be Hetalia art (preferably OF America and England, although that is not necessary), and at least one sample must be a full color piece. Please choose art that you feel shows your skill! The art you complete to be featured in the calendar must be G-PG (kissing, cuddling, shirtlessness, etc are fine. But nothing risque), but you can use higher rated art for your samples. R-18 is fine for the audition. I would prefer you not use a piece you used in your audition last year, if you auditioned, but if it's absolutely necessary because you don't have three new pieces, that's fine. Also, pieces do not have to be drawn in 2011. They can be older if you wish. If you were in the calendar last year, do not use the piece you drew for it.

-Months you would be most interested in? Please list the THREE months you'd be most interested in drawing for, in order of preference. If you'd like to do the cover you can list that as one of your three as well. The piece you draw if accepted must be themed for whichever month you are assigned. It can be a holiday (i.e. a Halloween image for October), something associated with the month (i.e. April showers), or just something that fits the season (i.e. curling up because it's cold outside). You could even use a historical event as your backdrop. It's up to you! You're welcome to get creative as well. And no you don't need to tell me here what you have in mind right now. Just list the months. I will try my hardest to get everyone one of their preferred months, but I cannot promise it. If you were involved in the calendar last year, please do not list the month you ended up drawing for. We don't want the same person to be in charge of the same month two years in a row.

You will have two months to complete your art. I will send out your assignments by September tenth if you have been accepted, and you must get them in by November tenth. If you are accepted, you will also be invited to a community I've set up for the project. I've made this so I don't have to clog this community with announcements for the artists. All information- such as necessary dimensions for the piece (so it fits the calendar) and other specifics, will be posted there. ^^

TWENTY-FIVE ARTISTS will be accepted. Thirteen artists will be providing large-sized images (twelve months and a cover), and twelve artists will be in charge of smaller images, which will be featured in the corner of the 'months.'

AUDITIONS MUST BE IN BY TUESDAY AUGUST 30TH AT MIDNIGHT CST. This gives you two weeks, so if you wish to do something new for the audition, you do have some time. The voting post will go up on the 31st of August.

Lastly, feel free to link this to artists you think might be interested. There's always a chance they won't see this post, after all!

And authors, I know I mentioned a writing project. We'll be posting about that a bit later. We might not get to it until after Labor Day (US), but it will be up within the next few weeks (the deadlines on that one will be later, so don't worry).

COMMENTS ARE SCREENED.

Ready? Now fill out the form!
