xD What a coincidence!

I thought I was over-reacting a bit, but there ain't use in being pessimistic or down about it, is there? :B I don't know. Maybe I'm trying too hard to be optimistic. xD Alfred and Arthur will always have super close ties, no worries here! ;w; .. R-Right? orz. I think they just wanna be more correct in their terms anyway, so .. it doesn't change much except for a silly word... right? ;A;

Eh, people, don't get upset. >__> People are making a mountain out of a mole hill again.

I mean, really, we're sort of having a party in the comm? (Well, not me because I'm working, but yeah.) Why let an article like that ruin the mood? If RL relations between the two countries worry you so much, here, read this. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/3264169.stm) That's tsundere x tsundere for you. These two will never have a quiet and peaceful relationship. :3

I actually find this interesting in that its the UK sorta breaking up, not the US as usual.

XD If people think this was bad, they should check out the ways things are years ago. It's even WORSE.

I kinda get the reasons why the MPs want it to be changed, because the UK was treated pretty badly by the Bush Admin. But seriously gais, they're not breaking up or anything, this isn't OFFICIAL POLICY.

The official policy of the UK Government is that The US/UK relation is their most important bilateral relationship.

DON'T WORRY GUYS, REALLY.

IT'S NOT OFFICIAL POLICY.

Just a recommendation. Really.

Calm down.

XD

(Stalking skillz of awesome)
...I'm starting to get worried because my Arthur isn't around either.. (She's actually in London for a whole week... which makes this EVEN WORSE)
WHAT THE. Is that some kind of a horrible conspirancy or something?

Good to know I'm not the only one who overreacted like that tho'. 8,D At times like these, I love this comm even more.

Exactly. It's basically saying "It's still the special relationship but don't call it that." It's just like when Obama came into office and decided not to call it the "War on Terror" anymore. It's all politics and semantics. It's upsetting, a little if you take the sensationalist headline at face value, but hey, I bet we'll get some great fic out of it. *already formulating happy fic ideas about a more balanced relationship as opposed to Iggy being uke all the time*

I think it just seems so because the UK is more vocal about these things. US diplomacy has been pretty cold and brusque for a while and the way I see it the US has always paid less attention to the special relationship with Britain thing than vice versa. Which makes sense for both of them, seeing their positions and policies. But yeah, it's been way worse and even if it gets even worse from now on it doesn't really mean anything because eventually it's going to get better again (unless something really extreme happens to Europe and/or the US).

And really, I just don't understand why RL official policy is important in the first place when it comes to shipping characters in a manga. :/ People are just so quick to jump to conclusions. Yes, it's nice to have the countries you ship have a "special relationship" IRL but that is just a phrase and doesn't really mean anything in and of itself. The relationship would've been the same and would've developed the same way even if it wasn't called "special relationship." It's just words. And they have absolutely no bearing on Hetalia as a whole.

(But in any case, I think this is where I take the main Hetalia comm off my RSS list and switch to hetalia_daily, because people are already making a mountain out of a mole hill and I can just see some reactions over there. :/ )

...urgh. I'm horribly reminded of Love Actually right now..

From: [identity profile] twistedsheets10.livejournal.com

That's true! It's not saying that's there no bond, but that changes have to be made for a more balanced relationship.

Haha. Please more fics of that yes.

Real life is hardly shipping basis in Hetalia, except in the loosest sense and people ship Hetalia characters based on much less than what the UK and USA have going on. The characters England and America, in my mind, are too perfect for each other to stop shipping based on this.

>> That said, the announcement is still a little "Awwwww MAN! COME ON!" My RussiAmerica-shipping friend is gonna rub this in 'till Kingdom come. XD

...I officially love the community right now *hugs back*
..even with all its evil corners and hurtful things that I sometimes encounter... it makes me a whole lot better. ...we should be celebrating the one year anniversary and NOT get depressed over this *sob xd*

*hugs back* thank you~

True, true.

It's funny, because in Hetalia canon there's actually no explicit mention or even depiction of the Special Relationship, just that England is one of America's only two friends along with Japan. And yet it's established that America and England care about each other, through the years.

And Iggy is far from submissive to Alfred in the Hetalia canon.

From: [identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com

Exactly. :3

But yeah, this is why I decided to stop watching the main Hetalia comm on RSS for a while. :/

Dude, after that older article, the US ambassador to the UK basically described the US/UK relationship like that of a strong marriage that has its little tiffs but still stay strong. XD

From: [identity profile] kuromitsu.livejournal.com

But I like England as an uke. :/ (The other way around just doesn't do anything for me. Then again, to me it has nothing to do with dominance issues...)

>> That said, the announcement is still a little "Awwwww MAN! COME ON!" My RussiAmerica-shipping friend is gonna rub this in 'till Kingdom come. XD

Haha. Considering that the US and Russia are having good relations right now doesn't help. XD

Not that the US/UK relationship is in a BAD state. I remember someone saying that a good relationship is a 'boring one', because a bad relationship is exciting one. XD

But don't worry. Some shippers may think that, but I think the other shippers wouldn't bother.

From: [identity profile] smart-chan.livejournal.com

...agreed like a 100000...+ times xD

...switching may be hot but... Iggy just suits the uke role.. better . and it really has nothing to do with dominance issues -> economically/politically wise anyway XDD
