Gravitation was pretty much the series that made me a yaoi fangirl and the first ever series that had me squeeing (well, the latter half of the manga did kind of sour me, but I still love Yuki/Shuichi). Unfortunately, I entered the fandom long past its prime, but I was still able to hunt down a ridiculous number of fantastic fanfics. Oh my god, just typing this is reinvigorating my love for them. <3

I do have to admit that Dee/Ryo of FAKE ranks a very, very close second to them, though. (And am I the only one who even knows what Kento/Akira is? Or desperately wishes that they could have had more than 2 volumes to be adorable and hilarious?)

Oh, mine too! It was also the first series I saw fansubbed. :P The memories. The manga just, just became licensed here, even, so lately I'm in a HUGE Gravitation kick (not to mention Spain licensed the Remixes and the first Metgamix... boy Hetalia made typing that awkward...), though I don't have many people to share the squee with.

FAKE is probably my favorite yaoi manga, if I have to be logical about it.

Gravi, especially Gravi EX, is way too crazy sometimes. Though my ultimate OTP (Tatsuha/Ryuichi) is from there, so I will never be able to abandon Gravi. :P

Kento/Akira as in... Mirai no Kioku/Kaze no Yukue? :DDD I really wanted to see more of them :|

Gravitation is truly one of the gateway series to yaoi. The series ended a long time ago here in the US (I REFUSE to put 'America' there, as amusing as it would be) and the sequel series hasn't gotten much attention, so the fandom here's pretty small and stagnant too. Most BL fans will probably have heard of Gravi, though; it's like one of the classic series of that genre.

I have to agree with FAKE having to be my favorite yaoi manga too (even if it's sadly less popular than Gravi and has a depressingly small number of fics ;_;). Gravitation was my first love and has that soap opera-ish appeal to it, but FAKE is just overall around better in plot and characterization. And yeah, the latter parts of Gravi were too wacky for my taste and I kept on wondering why Shuichi was looking younger and younger in each volume. O_o

I like Tatsuha/Ryuichi too, even if it's difficult to find good fanfics for them. Hawk Cloud's fics were the best I could find for them. <3

YES, Mirai no Kikou/Kaze no Yukue (it's called Future Lovers over here, which I don't quite get)! If there's a yaoi couple who deserved to have a lot more pagetime, it's them. But I really can't complain as they did get one volume more than the majority of yaoi couples receive and managed to have a satisfactory conclusion without feeling rushed or prolonged. (They practically got married! How awesome is THAT?)

Well... the sequel is... weird. Which is odd to say considering we're talking about Gravitation. I'm definitely more fond of Murakami's old drawing style. But yeah, the lack of fandom is sad. Though [livejournal.com profile] gravi_muse_meet manages to do quite nicely, imo.

FAKE is totally better, plot wise. I adore Gravi, and I will probably always consider it my main fandom, but FAKE = ♥. And it has the advantage of having less fic but with great quality (though bad things do pop up...). I mean, it has tons of JJ/Drake fics, which is LOVE. LOL fans often joke that Gravi Ex is shota. Shuichi certainly looks like some shota kid.

My personal favorites are LuV2Writ3 (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/601322/LuV2Writ3)'s fics. One of my longest writing!crushes. <3

Totally. They deserved more love. Though, maybe it's better that it stayed that way. I mean, longer series sometimes just... ruin things ^^;. I always wondered about the "Future Lovers" bit, but, well. (Very awesome! I always laugh happily at them, especially at the whole "using the students to win grandpa" thing. It was adorable. XD)

I'm much more fond of Murakami's old drawing style too, especially with Shuichi actually looking like a guy in the earlier volumes. I tried reading Gravi EX, but Shuichi looking like a preteen girl just spoiled the entire reading experience for me. :(

I actually haven't checked that community out, as I first got into the Gravi fandom through Fanfiction.net way back when I didn't have a LiveJournal account. *looks through the archives* Whoa, people are still posting? I even recognize some of those names...I'll certainly have to do an archive binge there when I have time.

I reeeally need to get a hold of the FAKE sequel. Do you have any FAKE fanfic recommendations, by the way? I'm definitely going to check out the author profile you linked to. <3

Yeah, I do believe that Kento and Akira's story played out exactly the way it should have with just the right amount of pages. As much as I would have loved to read more of them, the short volume length meant that they ended on a high note without suffering from writer's fatigue or convoluted plot obstaclces. (Kento's grandpa in general cracked me up every time he appeared. I had to laugh at even his "funeral." XD Not to mention that Kento and Akira themselves have priceless expressions in the humorous parts -- Akira bitching about how he's becoming an emotional sap like Kento, ohmygod.)

Oh, and out of curiosity, do you know of any other good yaoi manga? I sometimes take a shot at reading the ones uploaded on Manga Fox, but it's a bit hard to weed out the gems from the humdrum/crappy stuff, especially because I don't go for non-con or stories that don't devote enough time to the development of the relationship or only focus on how hot the characters look together.

From: [identity profile] shini-chii.livejournal.com

Man, I knooow. When I bought Volume 01, I was actually a bit love-struck over Shuichi (I mean, I often say I'm kind of straight for him) but he was just so boyishly cute... If I have to be completely honest... I'm only stiking to Gravi Ex for the nostalgia and because she is kind of going the way of my OTP *cough* and yes, the comm is still active! :D Mainly since Gravi Ex came out.

Gimme a few minutes for the recs. I'll check my favs and be really OCD and make a neat list. XD And FAKE II is quite good indeed. Again, way more fond of the previous drawing style, but this one at least doesn't involve shota boys.

Oh, totally. I really feared something really shitty was going to happen, or something, so I was so glad about how things were done. Even the girl with the crush on Kento was so nicely done (I mean, a manga with the girls not being bitches? I rejoice! And grandpa was priceless. I actually adored him to bits. Too fun not to. Also, it was awesome to see them rubbing off on each other, no pun intended. XD)

Oh~ "Tokaido Kisame" and its sequel. So far it's very good. I would also rec the infamous Chintsubu/Chinko no Tsubuyaki manga. It's quite possibly the most hilarious yaoi manga to ever be done, though it is definitely not worksafe (and its basic premise is being done in Hetalia form, too, so if you like it I'll link you to that too :D). "Hybrid Child" is love (from Junjou Romantica's mangaka, which I also recommend! The first couple is kind of cliche'd, though it is adorable from time to time, but the other two, especially the second, have their charm). "Hikari no machi" is another one I adored. "Oka no Ue no Rakuen" managed to be quite adorable.

I really, really to make another line to rec you "Otona no Mondai". Awesome, fucking awesome stuff.

And there's Naono Bohra. :D She draws masculine guys, which is totally awesome, though she hits some cliches and wallbangers in a one-shot or two, she's generally delightful to read. She tends to draw older-looking or scarred guys, in case that's not your thing.

There's another manga I really wanted to rec but I can't find it... and I don't remember the title. :///

/working on the fic!rec list.

From: [identity profile] infiniteowl.livejournal.com

Thank you so much for the manga recs! I'll be sure to check them out once I've gotten a good night's sleep. (I checked out the first two chapters of "Otona no Mondai," and I already LOVE IT.)

A whole list of FAKE fic!recs? That would so make my week. You are AWESOME. (Why is everyone in this fandom so unbelievably awesome?)

From: [identity profile] shini-chii.livejournal.com

I'm glad you did! I'm quite fond of that manga. Maybe tomorrow, when it's not 3am, I will remember more... and remember about that manga I wanted to rec since, dammit, now I want to read it and I can't find it. XD
