So I was doing reserch on the "Special Relationship" the other day when I found this tiny article. While I agree with the point being made, that Obama's gift to Prime Minister Brown was kinda, um, un-sentimental? Even though I love you Obama XD I couldn't help but see the little line just above the "What's in the Box?" box, saying how Bush once gave Brown a Bomber jacket that sounds like it is the same America wears in Hetalia. 


I had a fangirl spaz and decided to post it here. Now all those pictures of England wearing America's jacket are as good as cannon to me. Most other Articles I found on the Special Relationship were actually rather depressing because they all talked about how it was falling appart or growing cold, but I'm sure UsXUk's love will prevail in the end!!! XD

As for the status of the Special Relationship, I agree that is seems to be quite healthy and thriving, but the news sources I found online didn't seem to agree. Not quite sure why, but I'm not really worried.

That bomber jacket comment made my day. Well, at least even Gordon Brown acknowledges the Special relationship is unbreakable, just like the countries. He described the partnership between the UK and the U.S. as 'unbreakable', declaring that 'no power on Earth can ever draw us apart'. And he assured the politicians: 'You now have the most pro-American European leadership in living memory.' Tell me I'm not the only one who imagines a cutesy scene between America and England involving that statement?

*sigh* these two cannon themselves so well in real life. I just came back from an airport yesterday, and there were signs all over the place saying "We Stand Together" with the American flag and Union Jack crossed over the phrase. It was adorable.

There is no international partnership in recent history that has served the world better than the special relationship between Britain and the United States. I believe there is no challenge so great or so difficult that it cannot be overcome by America, Britain and the world working together.

I did indeed see that. I think most of the sights I saw were over-hyping minor things the two leaders have said, like Obama saying the United States has to start "flirting" with other countries other than England. Personally I think the Special Relationship is doing fine. When the Obamas went back to England later one headline even read "Why Doesn't England have a Michele Obama?" so I think Us and Uk relations are having a speedy recovery after being hurt by the Bush administration.

Actually Obama didn't make the flirting comment. That was a British journalist. Obama said they were going to try and form stronger relationships with France and Germany, the media kind of ran with it as if he were implying that it meant to diminish the special relationship. ;)

And god, I love Little Britain. ♥ Unfortunately, Youtube took down one of my favorite clips, in which the nations are all convening at the UN and the British PM spends the entirety of Japan's speech passing notes to the president -- one of which ("Thinking about your cock") gets intercepted by the Saudi rep, who thinks he's the intended recipient and starts making eyes at the horrified PM. Good times, good times. XD (And now I really, really want to Hetalicize that. With Russia in Saudi Arabia's role, because it makes me LOL.
