Title: Things We Miss Between Beats
Author: ChampagneSly
Summary: My very first foray into USUK--a 1930's AU, a little romance that takes a long time to understand when Alfred's too busy jumpin', jivin' and wondering why Arthur insists on being such a downer over at the bar.
Warnings: PG rating, AU
Status: Complete
Reason: I have such a soft-spot for scathing-tsundere!UK and AKY!US, and this fic captures that so perfectly. Arthur is merciless ("I know it's difficult for you, but don't be stupid") in his attempt to (rather poorly) mask his jealousy, and Alfred's obliviousness is simultaneously endearing and frustrating ♥♥

Title: Contemporary Decadence
Author: CuttleMeFish / [livejournal.com profile] justbrowsing10
Summary: Arthur isn't fond of critics. But he can understand the constructed ideals of the age. All that matters if what he knows, really: few men in confidence would ever deny to loving the company of beautiful things. It's in their nature, and it is in his.
Warnings: M rating (for future scenes, hopefully), AU
Status: WIP
Reason: It's an AU set in Victorian London and written by CMF, for crying out loud. Do I really need another reason to rec this?? Prose and attention to historical detail is amazing (as expected), and Arthur as a bored, dramatic dandy just seems so damn right to me. ♥

Title: The Advantages of Solitude
Author: [livejournal.com profile] jacquzy
Summary: It wasn't a date, and he wasn't lonely, and he didn't fancy him. Certainly not. US/UK with brief implied Germany/Italy.
Warnings: K+ rating
Status: Complete
Reason: Written for the 2010 US/UK Secret Santa, but recently posted to AO3 so I'm reccing it 2 years late. I love how UK is in complete denial of his feelings for US right until the last minute, and the ending is just so warm and fuzzy and quotes Shakespeare and YES.

Title: The Movement of Language
Author: [livejournal.com profile] shadow_of_egypt
Summary: In a hypothetical experiment, a student takes reactant A (one grumpy English teacher) and mixes it with reactant B (one enthusiastic Physics teacher) in a glass beaker (life), stirring the mixture before adding substance C (updates and advice from strange friends, fed-up family, life, the universe and everything). The student witnesses a colourful reaction. Assuming all reactants are used up in the experiment, what would the end product be that is created from this reaction? (Answer: Two idiots, very slowly, very surely, just maybe realising that they might be falling in love.) Teacher!AU.
Warnings: T rating, AU, multiple pairings
Status: WIP (abandoned...?)
Reason: It's incredibly refreshing to see a US/UK AU fic where they don't immediately fall into each others' arms/beds, and while the impatient rabid USUK fan in me can't wait to see that happen in this fic, it's still wonderful to see how Alfred and Arthur slowly build a friendship and eventual mutual attraction here. Plus, nearly everyone in Hetalia manages to make an appearance at some point in the story so far, and they're all very much IC.
