I actually don't care much about shoes. I prefer to go barefoot as long as their aren't rocks/twigs...though, in this case, we were out in my friend's backyard, so there were plenty of rocks/twigs and they were my only pair of flip-flops, I guess I was subconsciously afraid that the dog would ruin them and we'd have to buy another pair.

I think it was probably something like Degenerative Myelopathy, since it seems to be seen a lot in German Shepherds.
