It makes sense that it kind of makes it canon, since the term itself has been used for years to describe the same thing. But, I think that even if Churchill hadn't coined the term that all of the things that have happened between them would still have occurred, just without a name. But I get where you're coming from. FrUk fans (gag) don't have a title for the relations of France and the United Kingdom. Fans of USJapan (GAG) don't, either. USUK is the only pairing that really has its own title.
And I'm sure Hiramuya knows this and won't be making a strip of this any time soon ~ or any time at all. I'm not worried about it. (:
