[MOD POST] Posting Rules

Hello all! The community has grown immensely recently. We've jumped eight hundred members since late June (we're now at 1,804), and we're an extremely active community post-wise as well. This month alone we've had 131 posts, and the month isn't over!

This is absolutely awesome! But I do feel the need to reinforce some posting protocol, because there's been quite a few off topic and incorrectly formatted posts recently.

1- Tagging. Please, please tag your entries. If you have a question as to how to tag something, just make a note in your post. One of the mods will add the appropriate tag. Otherwise, make sure your entry is tagged!

2- Images. Images larger than 300x300 must be under an lj cut.

3- Off topic posts. The purpose of this community is USxUK. Posts not related to their relationship are off topic. Additionally, query posts (i.e. I need this link, can you answer this question, etc.) are generally more appropriate for aph_request. If you ever have a question as to if a post you wish to make is on topic, just private message one of the mods. We'll get back to you!

4- Posting Format. This is something that hasn't been followed all that well recently. Copying from the userinfo:

Title:
Genre:
Pairing(s): (If it's just USxUK, it's not necessary to list this.)
Rating/Warnings:
Summary:
Link: (Alternately, you may post the fanwork on the community under an lj-cut)

It does not need to be in that exact order, but please make sure all info is present in some way, shape, or form. Fanart posts do not need to provide a summary, genre, or title, but should have the rest of the information (ratings/warnings and link). If you are recommending a fanwork, please list the original author. Explicit content must be locked.

5- Lastly, and in more exciting news, look for a couple surprises coming up! There are some community activities in order, including a holiday doujinshi project. We're also working on a weekly newsletter, which I'll probably post more information about over the weekend. In addition, we're less than two hundred members from reaching two thousand, so we'll try to think of some fun things to celebrate that when the time comes.

Ah, with rule #4, I've never been good at the whole 'genre' thing. Would it be alright if I continued to leave that out because I fail at assigning my fics genres.

I'd rather you try if you could? Just sticking to standard genres like romance, humor, drama, and angst would be fine (and of course if it's mature or not). I do think readers should have the chance to know the kind of story they're getting into. Thanks!

Somehow I never noticed you leave out genre though. I fail, apparently. XD

Ah, yeah, I always mention if it's mature or not in the warnings and stuff though and give pretty big descriptions that give an idea of what kind of a genre it is, but I guess I'll have to start trying to figure it out in the future.
