[Olympics: Day 1]

Welcome one and all to the first USxUK Olympic Games! We're proud to have each and every one of our community members here for these games and so we hope that whether you're taking on a serious challenge towards the gold, or just having fun with us in the Olympic Village, that you enjoy these games. We want everyone to have fun, so don't hesitate to strike up a conversation in the Olympic Village chat thread or reply to the members posting up their works!

Before we get started, here's a few simple rules to follow throughout the Olympics week:

1. All time limits will be in CST. The full schedule is up here, so please look ahead! You can always check the current time in CST with this world clock here!



2. All main events (Icon Dive, Fic Sprint, Art-chery, FST Freestyle) will be run strictly on a "completed on time" basis. If you complete the task and cross the finish line by the deadline, you will advance to the next round. Anyone reaching the final round will medal, and medal rankings will be decided based on the quality of work (full color image gets higher marks than sketch, higher fic word count gets higher marks than smaller word count). But all finalists will medal, so don't fret it!



3. All fun events (Gif-astics, some but not all of the Village games) will be judged by the mods on how well they achieve the theme given. Each round half of the contestants will advance, or it will be a single round event resulting directly in medals. The length of the event will be stated on the thread of the event.



4. Special daily events will earn you a special "USxUK Olympic Torchbearer" award. Keep an eye out for these as anyone who completes these tasks will be awarded it!



5. You can compete in as many of the events as you want! This is about having fun and spreading the USxUK love, so don't be shy!

There will be addition rules for each event in their thread, which you can view below! Let the games (and fun) begin!
