UK vs US, their values

There's something I'm wondering about, and I thought that maybe that only way to answer is through a democratic approach - and what better place than a comm about England and America?

I was just wondering what you think America and England's views are on GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transexual) rights are. Stuff relating to marriage, and how they feel about their government and country in relation to that.

Any fics that focus on this issue would also be really appreciated!
