Title: アパートの鍵貸します [I'll lend you my apartment key] Author: 水珠 [mizutama] Summary: The Japanese summary doesn't really tell you anything about the story itself, so I'll take the liberty of poorly summarizing it myself. College sophomore astronomy student Alfred F. Jones moves into a new apartment with his trusty feline sidekick Arthur. Alfred has nothing in common with his new next-door neighbor, best-selling British mystery novelist Arthur Kirkland, except for the fact that they're both cat owners - in Arthur's case, he owns an ever-hungry, hero-like cat by the name of Alfred. Eventually, Arthur and Alfred (humans) grow closer together thanks to their cats. Warnings: R-15 rating, AU Status: Complete Reason: This is one of the most popular US/UK Japanese novels on Pixiv if bookmarks are any indication, and with good reason - the characters are all IC (Francis and Matthew also make an appearance - Francis is Arthur's childhood friend and restaurant owner, while Matt is Alfred's twin brother, a literature major who is a fan of Arthur's work) and the story is incredibly cute and fluffy but manages to pull on your heartstrings at just the right moments. Title: The Plaza, 2005 Author: サワ [sawa] Summary: N.Y.のあるホテルのバーでの米英のお話です。米の栄光の百年と、喪失についてのお話。[A US/UK story that takes place in a bar in NY. A story regarding America's hundred years of glory and a story about loss.] Warnings: K+ rating Status: Complete Reason: sawa's prose is GORGEOUS. Like, professional Japanese novelist-level stunningly gorgeous. Even her twitter updates tend to be written in beautiful, proper language. I'd recommend like, every single story she's ever written but this one in particular stands out because it takes place in the Oak Bar at the Plaza Hotel (which, as a native New Yorker and hotel administration major, is a subject dear to my heart). US and UK have a drink there the night before the hotel closed for renovations in 2005 (which was a Very Big Deal back in the day so Google it if you're too young to remember) and it's just so incredibly rare to see US being nostalgic and reflective on his economic history in Japanese fanfiction. ♥ Link: pixiv (http://www.pixiv.net/novel/show.php?id=358095)
