Help! Looking for Beta-Reader, please :

Hey, guys! So I have a long break ahead of me and I'm planning to finally get started on this multi-chapter fan fic that I've been wanting to write and publish for ages now. I've already written the first chapter and have got about 2/3 of the basic plot all done. But I could sure use a BETA-READER to help me work more efficiently. I don't need really require much, just minimum basic requirements such as:

a.) Decent in grammar (i.e. able to easily spot and correct grammatical errors in whatever form)
b.) Willing to discuss plot with me (through e-mail, chat, skype, whatever)
c.) Can give constructive criticism concerning characterization, plot holes, style, whatever. Hey, I'm a big girl. I can take it ;)
d.) Will be online most, if not all the time. (like, once or maybe twice a week.)

It'd be awesome if the prospective beta-reader can also co-author this fic with me but you know, it's not really a requirement or anything. Anyway, if you guys know anyone or are willing to beta for me. Please let me know by COMMENTING.

By the way, I'm Asian so if you're willing to beta but might have a problem with the time zone difference we can talk about it. Hopefully, we can work something out, yeah?

Thanks a lot and I hope you have a good day.

i think i can do that. never actually beta'ed for anyone before, but it can't be that hard right? i'm in america, so the time zone may be a problem.
what's your story about?

Iiii would happily do this. I've beta read before, but I've got nothing going right now.

Skype or email would be fine for me, annnd I love to pick plot holes to pieces. I've never strictly co-authored a fic before, but... I'd be willing to try depending on what you specifically wanted. I'm usually a RPer in all honesty.

On 6 or 7 days a week, often for a good few hours.

Well, you've already got two takers, but in case those two don't work out, I'd be more than willing to help. I write my own stories sometimes, and while I've never posted a story for Hetalia, it is THE fandom in my life right now. Strictly speaking, I have beta'd before, but... the person I was doing it for had no grasp of plot, dialogue, continuity, or heck, even grammar... But I've been itching to do a USUK story, so editing/ co-authoring one would be great since I seem to be too lazy uninspired to complete one on my own. Time zone differences shouldn't matter too much- I'm American, but I tend to keep odd hours, and I am often on very late at night (which, I suppose, would be sometime in the afternoon for you?) I am very picky with grammar/formatting, so I could definitely help out if you have trouble with English. (Which doesn't seem to be the case, but, it might not be your first language, and that can be hard... *is studying German herself* )
So, just let me know if you decide to use me or someone else!

P.S. Just out of curiosity, what kind of story will this be? AU? Gakuen? Cardverse? Or something else?

Hello there! I just wanted to express some interest in beta reading for you! I do have some beta reading experience though recently, I have had a lack of them and I really, really want to try my hand in it again! I truly have a love for USUK and it would be amazing to be able to beta read a USUK story because unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity yet!

Let's see! I have worked for the local newspaper for a good few years in my life and so I have a lot of experience with writing, editing, and then rewriting! Then of course, I also have experience with various writing workshops and much more so I hope that's enough experience to satisfy at the very least!

Though admittedly, I am rather new when it comes to being a co-author! So hopefully I will be able to do your lovely works justice! Also as an additional note, I am living in the Philippines at the moment and so I'm in the same timezone as you! Not only that but I apparently have no real life and so I am online every day! Hopefully this will help the both of us if you do decide to choose me! Thank you so much for your time and if you do choose me, I would love to contact you through any means possible!

Offer to beta

[identity profile] rikacain.livejournal.com 2011-10-16 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... I'm interested.

My grammar is decent, I suppose, my teachers claim I use a few weird phrases here and there, but that's not really the point. I usually get very Nazi-istic about people writing things down in English wrongly. If you're looking for an example, you can try http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7463199/1/Twice_the_charm , that's how I write without a beta-reader.

I'm online almost all of the time, and I check in even during school. I'm living in Singapore, so I believe the time difference is not so much?

As for preferred method of contact, will email, livejournal or even FaceBook suffice?

I look forward to working with you. XD or, at the very least, good luck on finding your beta-reader out of all of us.

Well, congrats on finding a beta-reader! It's actually your bravery to state what you want up here that is commendable - the rest of us are always lurking around, willing to help.

Thank you for reading, um, yeah. I look forward to working with you too in the future, should the opportunity ever arise.

You have now a bunch of applications, boss, but I'd like to offer my services, too.

My credentials:
- I'm English
- Also lived in America, Canada and France (and speak fluent French
- Currently live in Japan (so time zones may work out?)
- English Literature degree from the University of London
- I am online all day everyday, across various mediums (email, Facebook, Skype, whatever)
- USUK is my life.
- I have written a few fics, and have been getting much more into it recently (haven't uploaded them yet because they're not fully edited). I would really like to try and improve my skills by working with someone else. Even just beta-ing and getting to discuss this stuff with someone would really help me. And if you're happy for me to co-author then I would love the opportunity to learn from/with you.
