IMPORTANT MOD POST: Triggers and Warnings

Hello! I've had a couple of people contact me lately regarding warnings on fanworks. Triggers are something that as fans and fanwork creators, we need to respect in fellow fans, so please read this post carefully!

-It is better to over warn than under warn. If you are unsure about something, warn for it. It won't hurt to do so, and you lessen the chance of upsetting anyone. Yes, it is possible that there was no need to warn, but it's best to be cautious.

-Warnings should be used on- fanfiction, fanart, and doujinshi. I realize that there are situations where a doujinshi ends up being more triggery than expected by the images. I'm not going to be upset if it does not look potentially triggery from the images (and you can't read it), and thus you don't warn for it. But if anyone replies and lets you know that there is in fact something in there, please edit the post with it.

-Triggers such as non-con, dub-con, pedophilia, incest, death, self-harm, homophobia, torture, and potentially triggering kinks are a given, but specific events can also be a trigger. Two days from now is the tenth anniversary of 9/11, and I imagine there will be some fanworks posted. That is fine, but please do warn. And that applies to any historical event of weight such as that. If your fic or art heavily involves it, it should be warned for. I'm not saying that any fic that at all takes place during a time of war should be warned for. That's not necessary. But if it goes heavily into any darker elements- gore, death, trauma, etc., go ahead and warn to be safe.

I'm not upset at any members. I realize that at times people forget, or it could be something they've never personally thought of as a trigger. Just remember- be overly cautious if you're at all concerned. You can also PM me and ask if you're really unsure about something in particular. Thank you! :)

I understand when people think that putting a warn on character death would spoil away entire fic. But please do tell us beforehand.

Thank you for this. I don't get triggered but there are certain things I'd rather avoid due to personal reasons. So, thank you.

Thanks for warning us! I was going to upload a angsty, death fic story today or tomorrow.
Just wondering, some other communities on livejournal that I have seen also put warnings for switching or who's seme or uke, I was wondering what you think of this, as some fans have their own personal tastes and some don't really care, but I like that warning to.

Thanks again! =)

Thanks for clearing that up! =)

People are getting better at this, but I don't think that many people do it, there is still a lot of UK/US in USUK fics, especially when it's a USUKUS / UK/US/UK fic(I mean that they don't list it as that and just USUK).

Not that I'm really complaining since I don't think it's something that can really be moderated unless you read every single fic that gets posted and that wouldn't be plausible, plus it might be a bit odd since the majority don't mind. ^^; I wish people would though it's the reason I stopped reading fic. llOTL
