Here’s the second side to my earlier FST “Shining Dragons and Sugar-Free Air”. This one is more centred around England before America’s Independence and just after too. Hope you enjoy. As I mentioned before, I’m a brand-new fan so the characterisation may be a bit off. The zip contains the tracks and covers. Please note “Paint It, Black” may come up as “Ruby Tuesday” in WMP – the file names all seem jumbled on that album.

Jolly Roger – Adam and the Ants – Pirate!England

I haven’t read all of APH, so I don’t know if there actually is a Pirate!England reference, though I suppose he must have done some plundering to get that empire. From my limited knowledge of 18^th century England, I’d imagine he actually found real pirates blumming annoying: Pitt the Younger passed a lot of policies trying to reduce piracy at that time. Whatever the case, Pirate!England is still brilliant.

Colonial America becomes Independent. UK bitter, confused and in denial.

UK’s empire crumbling. Bitter and low about the loss of the US.

A bit of pathetic fallacy.

Totally the wrong country/moment in history but captures the mood of UK as he declines in power and presence on the world stage.

UK’s anger and melancholy towards the US and their awkward relations. I love this song for UKxUS.
