Mr Brown gloated at having beaten French President Nicolas Sarkozy in the race to meet President Barack Obama, it was claimed yesterday. The respected French financial daily newspaper La Tribune quoted a Washington source as saying that Mr Brown could not hide 'his satisfaction at becoming the first European leader invited by Barack Obama'.
